2018 Confirmation Announcement
January 4, 2018
Dear Parents/Guardians and Confirmandi,
Bishop Frank Dewane will administer the Sacrament of Confirmation at Saint Francis of Assisi Church on Saturday, February 10, 4:30pm Mass. Candidates and Sponsors are to arrive at the Parish Hall promptly at 3:45pm. Candidates will receive and dress in the red robes.
There will be a Reception after Mass in the Parish Hall with a complementary Spaghetti Dinner for the newly Confirmed and their immediate family.
Candidates must attend the last two required Sessions - Sunday, January 14 (10am Mass – 2:10pm) and February 4 (10:30am Mass – 2:15pm). On Feb. 4, we begin with 10:30am Mass, present the teaching on Sacrament of Confirmation and have a Rehearsal in Church at 1:15pm. Sponsors are expected to attend the Rehearsal.
It is expected that Candidates and their families attend Mass every week. Candidates are to study and know the Bishop’s Study Guide. The Bishop WILL ask each candidate questions, i.e., Why did you choose the name? Tell about your Saint’s life. Which Christ-like virtues or qualities does your Confirmation Saint have? Which Gifts of the Holy Spirit do you recognize in your Confirmation Saint? Name the 7 Gifts of the Holy Spirit; which do you want to use in your life.
Confirmation means that I am ready and willing to live out my faith with the help of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Youth have been prepared for Confirmation through attendance at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass; the catechetical sessions; the small Team Sessions, and Service Projects.
ALL CANDIDATES NEED TO GO TO THE SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION/CONFESSION. Confession is scheduled now every Saturday 2-2:30pm.
Sincerely in the Lord,
Father Richard York, your Pastor Jim Brantner, Coordinator
