We are an organization of women of our Parish that work to further the spiritual life and social action of our members.
Our primary goal is to encourage members to increase their spiritual activities. We participate in Funeral Masses for the deceased members, when requested, a monthly Memorial Mass is celebrated for the living and deceased members of the Guild.
The Guild also conducts fund raising events throughout the year to help support the needs of the Parish and local charities. An example of the charities that we support include:
FISH - Provides free transportation for elderly to medical appointments. For more information please see the Florida Senior Safety Resource Center at: http://fssrc.phhp.ufl.edu/content/fish-englewood
SOLVE Maternity Home - Offers a group of Christ-centered residential maternity homes which provide housing and a structured program (free of charge) to at-risk pregnant women and their babies. They provide housing, mentorship and community for pregnant women of all ages in need. For more information please see their website at: http://www.solvehomes.org/
Englewood Meals on Wheels - Serves all applicants who are home bound, unable to prepare meals for themselves and who have no one to help them. The program is geared to the aged, the disabled and those who are ill, even temporarily. For more information please see their website at: http://www.englewoodmow.org/
We host a monthly Card Party from September to May. It is held on the first Wednesday of the month from 11:30am until 3:00pm. Everyone is welcome to join, the tickets are $7.00 and are available at the parish office until the Monday prior. Sorry, no walk-ins the day of. You can make a reservation by calling the office at 941-697-4899. If you do not have someone to play cards with, you may make a reservation and we will find someone for you, please let them know you are new or a single player. This is a great opportunity to get to meet people and feel more comfortable in our Parish.
We have two large Rummage Sales held around the end of October and the end of February. This year we will have our rummage sale October the 30th (9:00 am - 2:00 pm) and 31st (9:00 am - 12:00 pm). You can drop off your clean, serviceable, functioning items on Thursday, October 29th. I'm sorry, but we can no longer accept TV's; other working electronics are acceptable. The next Rummage Sale is currently scheduled for 4th and 5th of March.
We support the Funeral Ministry by coordinating the food support for any reception that is held after a funeral. You do not need to be a member of the Women's Guild to help with the reception.
Our business meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month, September through May; we usually meet from 9:15 to 11:00 am. If you are new, please let them know at the sign-in table and we will help you get settled in and introduced. The get-togethers, in the Parish Hall on these occasions, promotes friendship and a spirit of community. You are welcome to stay afterwards for coffee and some social time with your Parish sisters.
All registered women members of the Parish are welcome and encouraged to join the group. We look forward to enrolling new members at our meetings, dues for the year are only $5.00.
Contact the Parish Office for the name and phone number of the Guild representative; she will give you further information.
