Pastor's Message - New Year 2018
Dec 31, 2017
December 31, 2017
My prayer and best wishes for you and your family are for a New Year filled with Blessings from Our Lord, Jesus. HAPPY NEW YEAR! Perhaps you have had family visitors over this Christmastime; our Family -- sons and daughters, grandchildren, brothers and sisters are the blessing and gift for which we are all to be so grateful to our God.
This whole week at your Parish Church of Saint Francis of Assisi, we celebrate the Christmas Season until next Sunday -- the Feast of the Epiphany of the Lord. We display the Nativity Scene inside and outside our Church. The very first Manger with animals and shepherds was originated by Saint Francis of Assisi, our Patron. For Saint Francis wrote:
"Christmas is my favorite feast--the one I wish would never end." "It is the time when each and every person is to have a heart that is filled with generosity."
Dear Parishioners, please make a New Year's Resolution to make God first in your life in 2018. Be careful not to let yourselves get so caught up in busy-ness and activities that you forget the true purpose for God gave us life -- to know, love and serve our Lord. We share in the Mission for which Jesus was born on earth -- to bring the sacredness of God into our everyday words and actions.
This New Year, 2018, take the time and make the sacrifice to pray the Mass every Sunday. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is the prayer of Jesus Christ that saves the world. Masses are every Saturday at 3:00pm and 4:30pm until March 24th; and beginning January 21st until Easter, Sunday Masses are 7:30am, 9:00am, 10:30am, and 12:00 Noon.
Sincerely in the Lord,
Father Richard R. York, your Pastor
