Saint Francis of Assisi Church

Pastor's Message

April 29, 2018

Dear Parishioners,

Today is Parish Volunteer Sunday!

Saint Francis of Assisi Parish celebrates and honors the "Christ Centered Service" offered in our Parish and our Community by our Church Volunteers.

Blessed is our Parish with over 300 volunteers serving in almost 30 different calls to Ministry.  Those are ever changing numbers as our Ministry is developed to meet the current needs and our Volunteer rosters change as people move in and out, circumstances and availability change for them, and those that return North after the Season.

Through the changing seasons and changing needs, the faith, generosity, and commitment of Volunteers never wavers.  Our Church Ministry touches the hearts of those whose lives are challenged; it offers hospitality to bring the Newcomer; it provides religious education to children, youth, and adults; it serves to prepare the Church for Mass and the Sacraments; and so much more.  We simply could not meet the many needs presented to us without the help and the servant hearts of our dedicated Volunteers.

On Holy Thursday, we commemorated the "Washing of the Feet" of the Apostles by Jesus.  Jesus tells them that He has given them an example and a witness to follow.  Our Volunteers make Jesus' model evident to this world and by doing so continue His Mission and the Charism of our Church Patron, Saint Francis of Assisi, to "Buildup His Church."

In Saint Paul's Letter to the Corinthians, we read, "There are varieties of service, but the same Lord."  We are grateful for the many unique gifts you each share with us and we thank you our Lord Jesus for the gift of each of you and for the many ways he works in you and through you.

Sincerely in the Lord,

Father Richard York, your Pastor
