Parish News - 2018 Catholic Faith Appeal

Saint Francis of Assisi Parish

Please join your fellow parishioners in supporting this annual appeal to fund the many and varied ministries and programs of the Diocese of Venice (the ten counties of Southwest Florida stretching along the coast from Palmetto to Marco Island and inland from Wauchula to Sebring to Ommaculee to Everglades City).

The ministry supported by CFA include the Office of Family Life, Marriage Tribunal, Respect Life Office, Catholic Charities, the T.V. Mass for the Homebound, Office for Evangelization, Diocesan Retreat Center; Our Mother's House for Single Moms and their babies, nine Catholic Schools, Migrant Missions, Our Seminary and Seminarians to name a few.

To raise the necessary funds, each parish is assessed 26% of its Offertory income (Sunday Collections) of the prior year, minus whatever direct support the parish has given to Diocesan- needs.  This 26% becomes the parish’s CFA goal for the next year.  Last year the CFA goal for SFOA Parish $158,000.  This year our CFA Parish Goal is $163,000. The number of households contributing was only 30% of registered households.

If a Parish exceeds its Goal, it may retain up to 25% of for its own use, which will not be included in its assessable parish income.  SFOA Parish was able to gift $3,000 of the remainder of the overage to St. Charles Borromeo SCHOOL in Pt. Charlotte.  In the latter case, the parish is given credit for this donation in computing the following year’s assessment.

I appeal to all our Parishioners and our “Seasonal Visitors” to help us do the same this year.  If you received the CFA mailing from the Bishop, you may respond with your PLEDGE card or your single donation.  Be sure to include the pledge card, which credits your Parish of SFOA.  Of course, you may at any time, give your CFA Gift to the parish in the BLUE Offertory Envelope in the pews. Please make the check to the Catholic Faith Appeal –SFOA Parish. Additional pledge cards and envelopes are available at the entrances to the church.

Sincerely in the Lord,

Father Richard York, your Pastor
