Parish News - Mass Schedule Changes

January   February   March

The Parish Pastoral and Finance Councils along with the Parish Liturgical Ministry make the following Announcement

Mass attendance at Saint Francis of Assisi Church during the Winter Season of January to Easter has increased -- this is the good news.  The challenge is that attendance has grown beyond our pew and parking capacity during the Winter Season.  The main Masses during the Winter Season are now STANDING ROOM ONLY.  This raises concerns about fire and emergency procedures.  In addition, finding parking can be frustrating and the congestion can pose a danger of accidents.

These CONCERNS were discussed and WRESTLED with since last Easter by the Parish Pastoral Council, Parish Finance Council and Parish Liturgical Ministry.  Each month March, April, May , and this September, this issue was on the agenda.

After lengthy discussions and broad consultation, the Parish Councils made the following recommendation to our Pastor.

  1.  To move both the Saturday Vigil Masses to an earlier time.
  2.  To add a fourth Sunday Morning Mass.

Our Pastor accepted the recommendations of the Councils and Ministry and after consultation with the Bishop, the weekend Mass Shcedule will be as followings.

The Vigil Masses on Saturday:  January 6th to March 24 = 3:00pm and 4:30pm

Sunday Masses:  January 21 to Easter Sunday, April 1 = 7:30am, 9:00am, 10:30am, 12:00 Noon

The rest of the year (Easter through January), the Mass Schedule is the same:  4:00pm on Saturday and Sunday at 8:00am and 10:00am.

The Pastor, who serves as the spiritual leader of the Parish has directed his Councils and Ministry to monitor and evaluate the working of this schedule in the upcoming year.

Thank you for your understanding and support.
