The Servants of the Lord and the Virgin of Matara
The Servant of the Lord and the Virgin of Matara (Servants of the Lord and the Virgin of Matara or SSVM Missions), a missionary Institute of Religious Sisters, will speak at Sant Francis of Assisi Church for the Mission Appeal next Saturday, November 11 and Sunday, November 12.
From our beginnings in San Rafael, Argentina in 1988, we have grown to over 1200 sisters missioning in almost 40 different countries. We strive to go where the presence of religious sisters is most needed. Although we are an international community, we have been blessed with many vocations from the United States, over 100 at present. This appeal allows us to inform your parish about our mission work in Ukraine.
As you can imagine, our missions in places like Ukraine are in great need of support. The Sisters work in several houses, providing education for children, teenagers, and young women. They also have a home for pregnant girls and women who are abortion-minded. Since most of the girls come from poor families, the Sisters also take care of the families by giving them some assistance.
As you may know, Ukraine is not economically stable at present. For this reason, missionaries do not receive much help from the local people who very often themselves lack even basic necessities.
Thank you, Father Richard York, for giving us this opportunity to speak at Saint Francis of Assisi Church and and share our mission in Ukraine. As we daily strive to help those in need, we are most grateful to all of you for your prayers, contributions and generosity, truly a grace from God and a consolation for our missionary Sisters. Please be assured of our prayers for all of you as well!
United in the Immaculate Heart of Mary,
Mother Mary of the Incarnation, SSVM
